Hermann Göring Silver Crest Ring in 800 Silver by Herbert Zeitner (Attributed; Price Upon Request))
German Silver, Onyx, Marked “HZ” and “800”
This is a finely crafted silver ring attributed to Reichsmarschall Hermann Göring and bears the hallmark of Herbert Zeitner, master goldsmith and silversmith of the Third Reich. The ring is constructed of .800 German silver, marked on the interior with both the “800” silver standard and Zeitner’s circular “HZ” hallmark. Zeitner was known for producing high-level presentation pieces and ceremonial jewelry for top officials of the Nazi regime.
The ring features a polished black onyx cabochon (not red; the hue in one image is the result of photographic reflection), carved with Göring’s family crest—a raised armored fist issuing from a helmet, surrounded by stylized mantling. The crest is rendered in precise detail and framed by a beaded border, characteristic of Zeitner’s formal design style.
The side panels each feature significant iconography:
One panel depicts a soaring Luftwaffe eagle, clutching a hakenkreuz in its talons, in reference to Göring’s role as head of the German Air Force.
The opposite side bears stylized stag antlers, flanking a radiating hakenkreuz—imagery closely tied to Göring’s long-standing association with German forestry and the hunting culture of Carinhall.
While the ring is not accompanied by a formal chain of custody, its materials, iconographic program, and marked attribution place it firmly within the class of Zeitner-produced ceremonial rings. Comparable examples, including Zeitner ruby and gold rings, have appeared at several reputable dealers in the past (see here for a previous auction of the same ring). (See here for another Zeitner example).
This is an excellent example of Third Reich high-status jewelry with strong visual and historical presence. Offered as a collector’s item for its historical value only.
Ring Size: Approximately 14 (Talk about a huge hand!) Goring’s ring size definitely increased over the years, as there are examples of his jewlery from the early 1920’s in size 11.
Condition: Excellent, with strong relief, clean hallmarks, and original patina
